Low impedance filter
No more tension spikes!
The low-impendance filter is a component that protects electronics from voltage spikes. With 2 high-power TVS diodes and a 470 µF capacitor with low ESR, it is able to absorb huge voltage spikes when the battery is connected. The commonly used TVS (Transistent Voltage Suppresion Diode) (Not to be confused with a Zener diode or Schottky diode.) consists of a semiconductor p-n junction that becomes conductive during a transient voltage spike. When the voltage at the transient voltage suppressor rises above the threshold voltage (breakdown voltage), the avalanche effect of the semiconductor causes the p-n junction to become a low-impedance path that dissipates excessive current. The response time of a TVS diode is extremely fast, often expressed in picoseconds.
