GNSS Module SAM-M8Q
GNSS Module SAM-M8Q excellence in minature size!
The SAM-M8Q is a highly accurate, miniature board with a 72-channel GNSS receiver capable of receiving signals from GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou and Galileo. It communicates via SPI / I2C or UART. It has a Qwiic connector. There is a rechargeable RTC battery on the board to reduce time-to-first-fix. The u-blox module can be configured by a program called u-center. It has the ability to configure various functions, such as baud rate, geofencing, update rates, spoofing detection, external interrupts, SBAS/D-GPS, etc. The power supply voltage is 3.3 V.
Maximum performance in harsh conditions GNSS SAM-M8Q
The SAM-M8Q features low power consumption, a simple interface, and advanced interference suppression to ensure maximum performance even in non-GNSS environments.
The 15 x 15 mm patch antenna provides the best compromise between the performance of a right-hand circularly polarized (RHCP) antenna and a small size that can be integrated into any design. The omni-directional radiation pattern increases the device's installation flexibility. The SAM-M8Q ublox module has an additional front-end LNA for optimized performance and a front-end SAW filter for increased immunity to interference.
The SAM-M8Q module is designed for industrial and consumer applications that require small, cost-effective and ready-to-use GNSS solutions. The SAM-M8Q is based on the u-blox M8 FW3 engine with state-of-the-art performance and additional features not available in other antenna modules on the market. It also provides message integrity protection, geofencing, spoofing detection and odometer functions.

Guidelines GNSS Module SAM-M8Q
- GPS, GLONASS, SBAS, QZSS are enabled by default
- u-blox M8Q series has no external flash memory
- Blue PPS LED blinking(1Hz) means 3D fixed
- update rate 1Hz & baudrate 9600 default
- Baud 9600~115200 supported by INAV
- update rate 5Hz with INAV UBLOX Protocol
- update rate 10Hz with INAV UBLOX7 Protocol
- BF doesn’t support GPS position hold and RTH, GPS Rescue mode is supported by BF3.5 or last.
- The scratches on ceramic antenna are the result of tuning the antenna by ublox. Placing small nicks in the centre of the long edges, or corners, brings them into spec.
